Our products
The productive aim of the Goland female line is not solely to obtain the largest possible number of piglets. The final result of our selection programs translates into a constant increase in weaned piglets, provided that this also implies a real reduction in the cost of production of the piglets sold. The productive aim of the male line and our work of improving genetics is to have a top quality 160/170 kg live weight heavy Italian pig that allows a high yield, both on the farm and in the slaughterhouse. In summary, the main characteristics of the Goland pig are the following: genetically developed carcasses based on the specific requirements of the Italian slaughtering industry; uniformity both in terms of breeding performance and carcass quality; improved feed conversion even in animals raised with rationed feeding and with the addition of large quantities of serum; robustness, survival and resistance to health stress. All Goland breeders are produced and selected exclusively in Italy and in genetic centres owned by Gorzagri. This is an essential prerequisite for guaranteeing constant supplies and a high technical and health standard.

Male line
At the production pyramids dedicated to female genetics, Gorzagri has its own two male line nuclei, one conventional in Riese Pio X (TV) and one PRRS negative in Pezzol (BL) for a total of about 600 sows of the Goland male line. Research, development and choice of the genetic objectives of these lines are carried out exclusively in Italy, thanks to the fundamental collaboration with national slaughtering and processing industries, which allow a constant three-weekly feedback on the field of the work performed. The data thus obtained guarantee the genetic development of subjects able to satisfy the needs of the entire production chain, with particular regard to PDO productions, without penalizing the production of fine cuts. In addition to the fundamental aspects, for the valorisation of the pig, at the slaughterhouse and during processing, the system also takes into consideration other economic aspects, such as uniformity, robustness, vitality and feed conversion for animals with rationed feeding and controlled growth.
Female line
Since 1985, Gorzagri has had its own nucleus, the Pezzol (BL) company, where genetic research and the selection of our Large White female line named “Goland GP Pura” was developed. The nucleus, a “minimal disease” company since its establishment, is the emblem of the “Goland method”, the guarantee of a strict health and quality control on the entire Gorzagri production chain. There are two large-parent Gorzagri centres, with a total of about 5,000 sows, in which there are only pure “large white” sows from the company nucleus. The grand-parental centres operate with the three-site system and with two health-independent production chains; one PRRS negative and one conventional. With the launch of the selection project of the “Goland GP Sintetico” line, all the female genetic lines that make up the parent sow are directly managed and improved by us, given that the “PIC Italia L03” line is also produced and developed in collaboration with Gorzagri.
